About the artwork
This work originates in Miriam Sorrell’s own artwork and has been further developed through her creative process, combining her original imagery with contemporary techniques to produce a new finished composition.
Miriam’s description
Here is Mona Lisa with her monkey companions: one held closely in her arms, another leaning in to whisper a little mischief into her ear, and the others appearing playfully around her face.
There is tenderness in the way she embraces them, but also humour and a sense of curiosity. The monkeys bring movement, mischief and affection into Mona Lisa’s otherwise calm and composed presence, creating a playful contrast between serenity and spontaneity.
Together, the three works celebrate companionship, affection and that slightly unruly side of love — warm, instinctive and full of character.
