Miriam Sorrell is a London-born artist, writer and creative whose life and work have long been shaped by colour, nature, spirituality and a deep love of animals. Born to a Greek Cypriot father and Greek mother, she spent much of her childhood in Malta, establishing an early connection with the Mediterranean that has remained an enduring influence throughout her life. Based in Malta and Gozo for many years, she has held nine solo exhibitions on the islands, developing a distinctive visual language recognised for its rich colour, emotional intensity and recurring themes of the feminine, the sacred and the natural world.

Her work has also been exhibited internationally. On several occasions she was selected to participate in Cancer Research UK’s prestigious Art for Life exhibitions at Christie’s in London, where her paintings appeared alongside works by internationally recognised artists. Her most recent solo exhibition, Saints & Trees, held at the Citadel Cultural Centre in Gozo, brought together sacred imagery and the natural landscape in a reflection on beauty, loss, resilience and renewal.

Beyond painting, Miriam’s creative life has taken many forms. She is the author of Mouthwatering Vegan, published by Random House, and creator of the award-winning blog of the same name, through which she became known internationally for pioneering imaginative plant-based food. She has also worked as a poet, writer, jewellery designer and UK-qualified holistic practitioner.

Across these seemingly different pursuits runs a remarkably consistent thread: a belief in creativity as a way of celebrating life while drawing attention to what is vulnerable and worth protecting. Animals, nature, compassion, beauty and the inner life remain at the heart of both Miriam’s art and the wider body of work she has created.
