About the artwork
This work originates in Miriam Sorrell’s own artwork and has been further developed through her creative process, combining her original imagery with contemporary techniques to produce a new finished composition.
Miriam’s description
In this piece, Mona Lisa appears within a more weathered, urban landscape, surrounded by fragments of words, symbols and marks that suggest memory, experience and the layers we gather through life.
Her expression remains calm and self-contained, creating a striking contrast with the textured, almost distressed world around her. The peace symbol, scattered hearts and fragments of language bring ideas of love, freedom and humanity into the composition without disturbing her stillness.
The hibiscus returns here as a strong emblem beside her — vivid, alive and unmistakable. Together, Mona Lisa and the flower create a sense of resilience and beauty within a world that feels imperfect, layered and constantly changing.
