Living in Gozo and Malta, unfortunately we have a shortage of luscious trees. In my mind’s eye I envisage the odd tree found in the few fields left on these islands, and in the background a tiny chapel (many of which are still standing today, humble and beautiful) - leading one’s eye to the sacredness of the land and how precious both are, and how beautiful they stand together. Painting such beauty was sacred joy.
